Local Grant Aid Awards

Application forms for this year’s annual sports grant aid have automatically been sent to last year’s recipients with additional forms now available from the Borough Council on request via 01256-845685. Applicants must be at least county level or equivalent within their sport. It should be noted that full details of all sporting achievements for the past year should be noted on the form along with any press reports, which may provide additional information to the grant panel during consideration of the applications. Please also ensure that the application is fully supported by the coach and club and any grant awarded last year is detailed as to how it was spent.

All applications must be completed no later than 08:00 on December 1st and there will be absolutely no exceptions to this condition. All grant aid applications are automatically considered for the annual Basingstoke & Deane Gazette Sports Awards in the categories of Junior and Senior Sportsmen and Women and if anyone wishes to be considered for a Sports Centre Scholarship, they should indicate on the form and note how this would benefit their performance.

Once received there will be no further correspondence until late January or early February next year. Applicants will then also be advised if they have been successful with their application and have also been short listed for the annual sports awards evening to be held at the Apollo Hotel on March 3rd 2006.

Grant aid awards range between £35 and £250 depending on talent, potential and related expenses and alongside associated publicity go a little way to supporting the local sporting community.
