Portals had a massive 358 headstart and so only needed 82 points to secure their place in the 2nd round. This gave the Div1 Leaders a massive task of winning 11-2 every set against a side 18 places below them in the league.

Steve Blunden got off to a dream start taking 7 points off of Tony Palaczky in the 1st set, however Tony quickly recovered taking the remaining sets 11-0 11-1 11-4.

Portals continued to edge closer to their target but Queens made up ground in the doubles with a convincing 11-1 11-0 11-3 11-3 win.

However the match was over after Gary Walters took 6 points off Alex Garlick in match 8
Queens were then looking to make their loss as close as possible to be in with a chance of going through as a top 5 "closest losing margin" team.

Pete Martin was Queens' best player on the night dropping only 29 points in all 3 of his matches.
Pete Blunden gained over half of his teams points on the night picking up 50 in his 3 matches.
