They think it’s all over ….it
is now…….an apt comment as the season is over an we are all
looking forward to England’s glorious victory in the World Cup
in June…God Save the Queen and come on England!!
Well done to St Peters “A” for
retaining the Div One title, after being chased by Queens who were
catching up. Pete Matthews had a great season and was the main
reason for their success (apart from some good decisions from
Captain Sean Pickin…being careful where his team ate the day before
a big match).
Hannington “A” found the going tough
and KG “A” could not meet the firepower of Minitec and Ashford Hill
and are now relegated.
The RAF Odiham side return to Div 1
and with a team like Edbrooke , Pipe and Barnacle are likely to
cause some upsets.. (the net is slightly higher in Div 1)
Minitec were outstanding and now have
2 teams in the top flight…could there be room for a third team…would
be good to see…
The Lions were expected to return to
Div 3 but had to do the work and with Dave Partridge and Phil Ware
in the team KG “C” were promoted to where they should be playing
their TT in Div 2.

I had a knee op a few weeks ago and I
think the pain killers have had an effect…..you certainly will not

as expected! Odiham v Minitec… good to see this type of match ..a
hotly contested top of the table clash….
The press visited in the form of Tom
and Ashley…look out for the action shots on the website……they were
blurred which must mean that shutter speed was no match for Dave
Partridges vicious attacking play….
Another outstanding performance from
Dave Partridge….from the pictures on the website I can see that
these types of performances are now just a formality….Div 2 all
season next year…
Fine maximum from Nick Reid….a new
name in Basingstoke Table Tennis makes his mark
Hannington fought hard and with a
little luck could have won one or 2 matches A v Queens A….one of the
players that was involved in this match for Hannington seems to be
on the wrong side of luck….I mean if you hit the post in the last
minutes of a thriller of an FA Cup final…who would you want the ball
to drop to….Marlon Harewood…unlucky……
The 9th match between the 2 Rogers
had a significance as either players had probably not lost all 3
matches for some time. Barnacle came out victor over Bielby……need
John Motson on this one…so I looked in my records and saw last
season Bielby hit a duck whereas Barnacle didn’t….Div 2 looks to be
a good strength Division.
Edbrooke , Pipe and Barnacle firing
on all cylinders….the RAF trio sparked into life from the off.

In short Odiham rode their luck…….who
will win Wimbledon?
Ferguson returned from the jungle
played well and with some of his team mates good fortune would have
fared much better …who will win the World Cup..whatever you think

How Keith Dickenson lost all 3 is
beyond me….just a few Net’s and Edges required at important stages
of the match Keith….watch RAF Odiham in your next match…

Chaz Smith completed a deserved
treble of wins for the season over Andy Pipe…..a good season from
Smith whose tricky spiny game upset many a player…
We love you Sean….it takes more than
that to get headlines in the Gazette (KG C!) ..a pint of the black
stuff at the AGM…and I will consider it.
Usual 3 for John (McLarty v Queens
C)……is this like one nil to the Arsenal…or have times changed….when
I get the green card I look at it I think…usual 3 fro John …boring
boring Arsenal…..well not anymore..

The handicap match versus Minitec we
were in yellow shirts… KG C…Oranges and lemons….a brilliant night’s
TT. …who do you pass to when you look up……I feel a Migraine coming
on…….
A very hard fought draw 11.15
Minitec v Oakley….did this really finish at 11.15…..did the ball
keep getting stuck in the lathe…did you warn the wife…..did you play
up to 21?

Cooper (beating Andy Pipe)…good to see Nigel back and competing
…teaching Andy a lesson .

Garlick......it’s double money in the quick fire round…..a good
exhibition …I wasn’t there but I can imagine what this comment
