Closed Championship - The final word
April 6th, 2008
Very many thanks to
players, spectators and helpers who all contributed to make the Closed
Championship this year a great success. I have had plenty of positive
feedback which is very much appreciated. Barbara Evans raised an amazing
£146 from 2 raffles and with £154 from entrance fees plus £35 raised
from the refreshments, we more than covered the cost of hiring the
Sports Hall at Aldworth Science College. It was great to have over 50
players competing at the Championship and proves that table tennis is
still very much alive in Basingstoke.

Championship - 2 weeks to go! - anyone for Mixed Doubles?
March 15th, 2008
Entries are coming in at
a steady rate, we've already got more entries than last year which is
great news. There is also a good entry in the Junior events, Patrick
Garlick, Alan Palaczky and Terry White have been doing an excellent job
in promoting this.
Also encouraged that we
have 4 ladies entered so far, so am considering resurrecting the Mixed
Doubles. It would be good if we could get at least 5 pairs for this so
if anyone is interested, please email the Webmaster

Quote of the
Week
March 12th, 2008
From Roger Bielby on the fine
form of Ron Cleave of Queens 'C'
"...We
have spoken about the young up and coming stars and lets hope they all
fulfil their potential, but we played Queens 'C' last night and Ron
Cleave played, 82 years old, started playing during the second World War
and still maintains a good standard of play and enjoyment of the game.
What support he has given B/stoke T.T. over the years and long may it
remain so"

Championship - Entrance Fee
March 8th, 2008
***Apologies, there is an
oversight on this year's Closed Championship Entry Form***
In line with this
season's change to Rule 39 in the BDTTL handbook, there will be a player
entrance fee to this year's Closed Championship. The fee will be £4 for
Seniors and £3 for Juniors. The entrance fees will help to cover the
cost of hiring the Sports Hall at Aldworth Science College, which was
over £150 last year. I trust everyone will accept this necessary charge
- entrance fees can be paid on the day. Thank you.
