Press Report #1
Week commencing 19th September 2011

First week of the table tennis league and they’re off at a run – some of them anyway.

Division 1

Minitec A vs St. Peters B : 8:2 to Minitec but a very good win for Richard Mole and Jason White of St Peters B who were playing up from Division 2.

Alpha Cars vs Winklebury 5:5 – an honourable draw for their first match of the new season.

KG B vs Oakley A : 8:2 to KG B their only losses coming from Martyn Richards who lost to Sarah Whithorn and David Smith.

Hannington vs KG A : 7.3 to Hannington.  Steve Ng did well to win 2 games for KG A.  KG Players seem to be short of match practise.

Division 2

Queens D vs Oakley B : 7:3 to Queens D.  This was a very good match with time traveller Nigel starting as if he had never been away, with back up from Bavy Senr.  Biscuit eater Celia had an off day but despite losing 3 games Captain Lorraine was pleased with her motley crew.

Queens C vs KG D : 10:0.  What can we say -  no comments were added to the score card but Holly Edwards and Josh Manton each took one their matches to 5 sets.

Queens F vs Minitec B : 3:7 to Minitec B on paper the matches looked relatively straight forward with none of the matches going to 5 sets.

AWE A vs Queens E : 7:3 to Queens E.  Some closely fought matches several of which went into 5 sets.

Division 3

AWE B vs Aldworth : 2:8 to Aldworth.  John McLarty & Patrick Garlick have set an early season record for the longest set 19-17 with John saving 6 match points before losing the set. Patrick then went on to take game 5-11, 8-11, 19-17, 10.12.  There was a great comeback by Charlie Morrison when he worked out how to play Steve Jones by the 4th set winning 12-10, 9-11, 11-9, 8-11, 5-11.

KG E vs Queens J : 5:5 an honourable draw for the first game of the season.
