Press Report #11
Week commencing 29th November 2010

Late result from Week 10: Queens D vs Oakley B 8-2.

With 3 matches postponed due to weather conditions it will be a shorter report this week.

Postponed matches:
Division 1: Minitec B vs KGA and Queens A vs RAF Odiham
Division 2: Queens F vs St. Peters C

Hanninton lost to Minitec A 3-7 – no scorecard received so I’m unable to report in detail but Hannington conceded 3 games so I am assuming they were a player short.

Queens B lost to St. Peters A 0-10.

Alpha Cars team of Terry White, Paul Rattue and Ron Powell drew with KGBs team of Ashley Pither, Roger Bielby and Jorg Dolger.  Paul Rattue won all his 3 singles but lost the doubles with Terry White to Roger Bielby and Jorg Dolger with Jorg winning 2 of his 3 singles matches to halve the match (an honourable result).

The resilient Basingstoke Hindu Society team suffered another heavy loss – this time at the hands of KGD.  The Hindus were saved from a whitewash by Abhijit Kulkerni who turned in a good performance against KGs Holly Edwards to salvage a point for his team.  Final result 1-9 to KGD.

Oakley B drew with Queens E 5-5 with the majority of the games going into 4 sets.  The game between Terri Allison and Bill Bavister went into 5 sets with Bill Bavister taking the last 3 sets 9-11, 9-11, 7-11.

KGE team of Matt Wilson, Jared Binner and Martyn Richards beat the Portals team of Peter Blunden, Steven Blunden and Avril Waters 10-0 but the overall score belies the quality of the games with Avril only losing two of her games in the 5th and final set.

KGE lost to AWE 3-7 David MacDonald making Ken Wyld work hard for his win only losing in the 5th set.  It was a little cold in the room with the Polar Bears temporarily moving out to make room for the match.

Queens D beat Oakley B 8-2.  The doubles between Bob Walker and Peter Coppins (Queens D) and Terri Allison and Ian Warner (Oakley) went into the 5th set 2 games all but the strength of the Queens team pulled them through.
