KG “B” are now confirmed as being promoted from Division 2 of the Basingstoke Table Tennis League to the top flight and went one step closer to the title after a 9-1 win over Queens C with Roger Bielby and Phil Ware and Duncan Sibbick almost unstoppable .Sibbick slipped up against George Hellans in the last game and set of the night. The promotion was confirmed after St Peters B only had a 6-4 win over AWE due to an awesome display from John McLarty who won all his games 3 straight even against the might of Steve Armstrong. The ever impressive and improving talent of Louis Webb was again demonstrated as the youngster lead his Queens D team to an 8-2 win over their E team with a fine treble. Celia Hooker was also unbeaten for the D team whereas team mate Lorraine Mortimer went down to Nick Reid and Peter Coppins. Mohak Dalesh picked up 2 points for The Basingstoke Hindu Society with an 8-11,12-10,10-12,13-11,12-10 win over Ron Cleave and a win over Mick Buley. Young Louis Webb was the again star of the night with a treble that was completed all in 3 straight sets.

In Division One Tim Pang enjoyed a treble as Queens “A” hit 10 past Oakley A with only one game going to 5 sets. St Peters “A” dropped a point against KG “A” with Louis Conlon proving the difficult opponent taking the scalp of James Wright and giving Sean Pickin a scare going 2 game before Pickin responded. Norman Swift once again demonstrated his awesome power hitting a maximum all completed in 3 sets against a strong Winklebury side that contained Malcolm Cummins and Colin Wilkes. However despite this and a good win for Ian Short over Pete Bradley Minitec Profiles still went down 6-4.Steve Murgatroyd lead his Minitec Powerlocks team to an 8-2 win over Hannington with a treble but this was after a cold start as he was pinned down 2 sets to love and 9-6 down in the 3rd set to Steve Rollason before he kicked into action. Tony Brown picked up Hannington’s 2 points with wins over George White and Dave Mills. Paul Rattue and Kevin Macken were undisturbed as Cannons hit 9 past KG “A” with Louis Conlon picking up the point with a win over Terry White. Ron Powell impressed with a treble in Cannons 9-1 win over Oakley “A”.
